2019 Amateur Performance Project
"Children" CET ENFANT
(Received a performance subsidy from the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the New Taipei City Government)
"This is our story"
The play "The Child" began as an interview project in which author Joel Pomerat visited many women in Normandy. The visiting program allowed Pomera to come up with snippets of texts between parents and children and to start working on a creative project. The text discusses major issues such as parent-child relationship and generational estrangement one by one, reconstructs different family relationships, and explains in a humorous way those words that people cannot speak at these sad and difficult moments.
"Rehearsal is to experiment with the possibilities of human nature"
This time we recruited five amateur actors of different ages and backgrounds to discuss the relationship and differences between the characters and themselves during the rehearsal process, and interspersed them in the performance in the form of "documentary theater", presenting the parent-child relationship during the discussion. Struggling, confrontation and compromise have impacted more contemporary and different family views. We believe that through the participation of amateur performers, they can discuss issues related to their life experience from the performance, and at the same time, through their life experience, they can reflect real emotions and move the audience deeper.
