"Out of Place" is the half-year period when creator Lee Seung-rui went to France as an exchange student.
Traveled to Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and other countries, interviewed more than 30 Taiwanese of different identities from all corners of Europe, and made the interviews into performances.
What is life like for these people who have lived in Europe for a long time? And what is the so-called "home" for them?
And for us, what does the Europe that we often yearn for look like? And what exactly we think of our own homeland: Taiwan.
Case 1:
student, 23 years old. Due to the work of his parents, he was forced to give up his familiar life circle and his dream high school life, and moved his family to Europe. In a blink of an eye, the familiar peers and friends in the past, and even the scenes of my dreams have gradually moved away from me, as if I was thrown into another time and space.
Case 2:
A full-time housewife who has lived in the Netherlands for ten years. I came to Amsterdam to study and work for love. Behind the sweet life is not only the heavy pressure of life, but also the differences in the identity of my hometown.
Case 3:
A student and actor in Taiwan, who has never been to Europe, but wants to live in Iceland. The familiar things here seem too complicated, and his goal in life is to live a quiet and leisurely life.
